William J. “Reds” Ward, 77 of North East, MD, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.
A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on January 7, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and the late Josephine (Chapman) Ward. He was the husband of the late Helen S. Ward who died on April 22, 2009.
Reds retired from Henkles and McCoy, where he worked for over 30 years as an Operating Engineer.
He was an Army Veteran and a member of V.F.W. Post #6027, North East, MD. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and working on his lawn.
Survivors include two daughters: Michelle Ward, Billie Jo Benjamin and one son, William J. Ward, II all of North East, MD; and two granddaughters: Brittany Benjamin and Gwendolyn Ward.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Daniel T. Gedman will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 2:30 PM.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
